ABSTRACT
Coronavirus diseases, COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). It was first identified in December, 2019 in HuananSeafood market in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province of China. The interventions put in place by the Chinese government to combatting the disease was to impose a total lockdown on the entire province. This helped medical officers to trace contacts, test and treat infected persons in isolations. The disease has been declared a global pandemic due to its significant impact on individuals, economies and global healthby the World Health Organization (WHO).
This rampaging pandemic has hampered smooth international trade and reduced foreign direct investments if not stopped altogether. Also, there is a sharp decline in government revenue as Ghana Revenue Authority fails to meet its targets. Again, businesses domestically have not been spared as they have downsize their labour force resulting in low productivity, profit and high cost of operation. Political and other entertainment activities are no exception. The individuals on the other hand have also suffered the brunt effect of losing jobs, loved ones, benefactors and benefactresses and the freedom of association.Consequently, the individual has lost the ability to invest or save for the future which looks unpredictable.
Evidently, this pandemic has disrupted harvest and food supplies in the developing economies signaling loss of lives through hunger should governments failed to put the necessary precautions into action. Oxfam and International charity warns.
It is highly recommended we follow all the World Health Organization, United Nations and Ghana Health Service protocols until this too has pass away.
